CALL TO ACTION #92 Truth and Reconciliation IN CANADA

Declaration of Commitments to Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples

Whereas:

  • Canadians generally understand that Canada’s relationship with Indigenous Peoples lacks equity and is fraught with conflict;
  • Canada has committed to a new phase of truth, Reconciliation and renewed relationships with First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples.

We therefore commit to take action by:

  • Acknowledging that Reconciliation is a natural aspect of the practice and values of the construction and design education community and worthy of organization-wide effort;
  • Become Reconciliation competent in general;
  • Creating opportunities for staff to explore the relevance of the Calls to Action on Truth and Reconciliation to construction and design in Canada particularly with regards to lands and resources, social equity, and renewing relationships in business and governance;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of our actions by measuring levels of awareness, action and collaborative partnerships.

Constructionlab and COVID-19

Our firm has taken measures to ensure that we respect physical distancing regulations and recommendations of local and provincial health authorities.   We live in remarkable times, COVID-19 has strengthened our resolve to provide engaging, insightful and valuable information, best practices and application of industry standards, while meeting all HSE requirements.   We believe it is our social duty and obligation to protect those we do business with and in turn ensure the safety of the ones we love.    We will be hosting in-class sessions, when our client sites are ready.    In the meantime, we are offering a myriad of on-line LIVE sessions that are interactive, engaging and insightful.   Contact your local construction association to register for your next professional development course.

We believe everyone should reach their full potential; at home, and around the world

Our Pillar of Action

When tides rise, all ships should float to the top.

At Constructionlab, we believe it is our duty to share our reward for a job well done with others around the world.

We believe creating opportunities to access education will lead to those we cannot see and those we cannot hear, realize their dream for a future full of light, hope, and success.

We believe that some day, they too will  contribute to the world around them, and us - in ways we can only imagine.

Our Social License Pledge

Our commitment is more however, we subscribe to fair and honest business practices, and we will do what we say and when we say it.   Maintaining our social license to operate in an ethical business manner is important to our firm, and it is this cornerstone that guides our decisions every day.   Our clients demand it, and we deliver.
